The Kamagong Gun Club Shooters' Incorporated (KGCSI) is a gun club whose office is located in the heart of uptown Cebu City, in the shooting range of the A.F.P.'s Central Command. It is the only PNP-FED and PPSA- accredited gun club within the confines of the city.
The club was first organized as an unofficial group of gun enthusiasts drawn from the ranks of the confidential agents (CA) of the U2 office of the then Visayas Command of the AFP. It had its beginning in the uncertain years of the Cory administration, circa 1989.
The status of the club was finally made official in late 1993, when a formal application to the PNP-FED was approved. Its home range was to be the VISCOM shooting range. The first president was Miguel Ortiz, an engineer.
The club has grown slowly but steadily, joining the ranks of Philippine Practical Shooting Association (PPSA) - accredited gun clubs in 1995 and has been a faithful member of the said organization since.
At present it still uses the now-CENTCOM range, which has been enlarged to 3 large shooting bays and 5 smaller ones. We have hosted two IPSC Level 2 pistol matches since, in 2005 and 2008, as well as numerous IPSC level one matches.
In addition to being an active member of PPSA Visayas, it is also the only gun club in Cebu wherein the alternate discipline of defensive pistol shooting competition and training is being actively practiced. We hold International Defensive Pistol Association-pattern pistol matches on a quarterly basis. Competition in the disciplines of tactical rifle and shotgun also held quarterly.
Training seminars in basic firearms handling and safety are held on the first weekend of every month, and for those who qualify, a more rigorous course of training in defensive pistol shooting skills is also available.
It is with great confidence and hope that we will continue to improve our capabilities with regards to facilities and training, as well as to remain the most innovative and open-minded gun club in Cebu. |
